Andrew Goldschmidt
Andrew Goldschmidt is a composer and performer from Connecticut who has been studying music since the age of 11 when he began taking piano lessons. After only a few years of classical training, his focus quickly turned to jazz improvisation and music theory. Playing piano in all the middle school and high school jazz ensembles and playing keyboards in rock bands, Andrew has always had a hunger for learning new music. He taught himself how to play the drum set, guitar, and bass after learning that great rock and roll musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Paul McCartney performed almost every instrument heard on their solo album recordings.
Andrew's compositional career began when he wrote a few rock songs for his own performances and some classical pieces in his high school music theory courses. As he began college at Northeastern University in 2004, his interest in music composition shifted primarily to film scoring and programmatic music. Working under the guidance of Professors Allen Feinstein and Doug Durant, Andrew has composed a number of programmatic concert music works that were all greatly influenced by Danny Elfman's film scoring techniques.
Andrew will be graduating in May 2009 from Northeastern University's undergraduate Music Technology program with Minors in Music Industry and Business Administration.
