Seth Fiel
I was born in Philadelphia September 25th 1983 and raised right outside in Wynnewood. I graduated from Lower Merion High School in 2002.
I consider my musical "awakening" to be one day during high school when I stepped foot into a borders music store while the soundtrack to the movie Pi was playing. This was the first time I had ever heard ambient electronica or experimental music. I was immediately drawn to what I was hearing and sprung for the album and one album from almost every artist on it. That is where my fascination with music began.
The next step in on my journey was my discovery of a free online music making program called BuzzMachines. Once I realized my new ability to actually create my own music I became obsessed with it and immediately began experimenting with all of the different sounds I could create. Without any knowledge of music theory I spent the next couple of years composing a multitude of songs, ambient grooves and experimental beats.
Next I wanted to go to school for music technology, a feat that I had never dreamed possible a couple of years earlier. The best looking program was Northeastern's so I applied and crossed my fingers. The rest is history. My favorite classes have been Music Tech's 1 and 2 and Sound Design, where we got to sync audio and music to video.
I had the opportunity to Co-op at a wonderful small post-production studio in Manhattan called Dig It Audio. There I was introduced to the world of film and television post-production. During my time there I was fortunate enough to get to do some hands-on sound-design and mixing work on a few independent movie projects. I will always continue to compose my own grooves and may one day pursue music as a career but for now am looking to start a career in sound design for movies, TV and video games.
